Finding a relationship that is built on love, happiness, and lust is difficult nowadays. It is even harder to make sure that the relationship stays healthy and keeps you both happy. Falling in love can just happen, but what does it take to truly stay committed and in love to one another? Here is a simple guide on how to have a healthy life through lust, love, and relationships.

Spend Quality Face to Face Time Together.

Making time for your partner is an important part of a relationship, but this becomes harder as a relationship goes on — between busy work schedules, having kids, and overall exhaustion. No matter how busy life gets, always try to make time during your day for your partner. Even if this means giving them a short phone call before bed to ask about their day, this will show your loyalty to the relationship and how much you care about your partner. If you feel like you two are lacking valuable time together, you can do something that you both enjoy, like going out to dinner or for a bike ride! Make sure you have fun and don’t let your schedule take away from time you could be spending with the person you love.

Communication is Key!

Face-to-face communication is also important in relationships because you don’t get the same emotional and physical connection by sending each other texts or calls then you would by going on a date. Communication through social media and texts isn’t a bad thing, and in the long run, it can even help some relationships, but having that physical contact is very important for keeping the relationship healthy.

Having good communication with your partner is a good way to keep a healthy relationship, especially if you have to do long distance for a part of it. Being able to communicate with your partner will help you relate to them as well and keep that connection going. Always tell your partner what you need — do not make them guess! Not telling someone what you need is not going to help the relationship, it is only going to hurt it. No one is a mind reader, so being able to be vulnerable with your partner and letting them know how you feel is important for both of you. Make sure you aren’t the only one talking in the relationship. It is very important to also listen to your partner and read their body language because it lets them know you are here for them and are committed to their love.

Keep the Intimacy Alive.

Maintaining regular physical intimacy is important in a relationship. I’m not just talking about sex. It is also important to hold hands, hug, and kiss. Know what you and your partner want, which comes down to make sure you communicate with each other on what you want physically. Having regular couple time, even if it is just a few hours at the end of the day to spend time together, is very important and will help the relationship overall.

Learn to Give and Take.

Don’t expect to get 100% of what you want in a relationship. All healthy relationships are built on compromise. Knowing what is important to you and your partner is key to maintaining a good relationship. This includes communicating, being vulnerable with each other, and letting each other know what you need.

Be Prepared for Ups and Downs.

Relationships are built on ups and downs, meaning one day could be better in every way then the other. Don’t forget that challenging each other with different opinions or views is important in a relationship, and it is important to communicate in these type of situations to come to a resolution!
